Tour De La Nursery!

Several people have written asking to see little Lily's lair (oooooooo love the alliteration!) So here it is! Complete with detail shots ('cause after all, it's ALL about the details!)

Color Scheme! I always swore I would never follow the herd and do pink and green for a girl...aaaaaaannnnd then I found this bedding and lost my head. Oh well!

Comfy, Non?

Ballerina Bears, Bien Sur!

"Bless this room and the child who dwells here... growing and playing, sleeping and dreaming"

Fancy hat from Kiki for fancy occasion!

Wall Decal - we renters weren't allowed to paint. The nerve of some people! Anyhoo, decals were the best I could do!

First Ballet Shoes From Ms. Sharon Davis!

Love The IKEA Toy Hanger!

First Friends...

For right now, this room is mainly used for diaper changes (yum), wardrobe changes (in response to wardrobe malfunctions), and late-night rock sessions (the chair, of course!) Lily's current night-time residence is a bassinet right next to the bed (easy access for a tired Mommy!) complete with ruffles, soft blankies and a Sleep Sheep which plays music pour la princesse I would put pictures up, but hey, a girl has a right to privacy! Even a celeb like Lily Elizabeth!

Gleek Alert!

So while watching TV the other day (Mommy and Lily need their daily E! fix!) a commercial came on for the new season of Glee. Now, I never actually got a chance to get into the show, mainly because I never had time to sit down and watch it when it first began - but I hear it's fabulous! Anyhoo, the preview featured a chickadee singing "Like a Prayer" and I was immediately drawn to her voice - it's gorgeous! So Lily and I went over to Youtube and got some of the songs going. Lily's eyes lit up and she went completely still and quiet when we heard Glee's rendition of Queen's "Somebody to Love". We tried a few more songs and Lily was just enchanted! Other favorites include "Defying Gravity" from Wicked and Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" - my baby has such great taste! Now, whenever Lily gets fussy, the Glee soundtrack is one of the first go-to resources for crisis aversion and it usually works within seconds (unless Mommy starts to sing along - then Lily just looks downright offended) Guess I'll have to make time for this show after all! Lily is an official Gleek!

Springtime Tallahassee!

For her social debut, Lily's first community event was Springtime Tallahassee! Mommy, Daddy and Lily (dressed in daisies and lace) stepped out into the downtown area to take in the festivities! The weather was perfect, the live entertainment was great, and the food was amazing (totally unhealthy...meaning declicious!). We ran into several friends who got to meet the little one, too - although Lily was asleep most of the time - Mommy's going to have to work with her on her social skills! All in all it was a beautiful day, and Mommy and Daddy definitely appreciated the opportunity to get out of the house for a bit and show off our baby girl!

Two Weeks' Notice

Hey there! Lily had her two week check-up today and (of course) received fabulous reviews! She is in the 25 percentile for weight at 7 pounds 13 ounces, and close to the 75 percentile for height measuring up at 21 inches. Everything from eyes and ears to lungs and heart look great, buying mommy at least two days of sound sleep - whenever we do sleep, that is!

In other news, we think we may have had our first glimpse at colic last night. Our usually content and pleasant baby girl decided to flex her muscles a bit. From about 8pm to 1am mommy and daddy took shifts rocking, swinging, swaying, cooing, singing, dancing, patting, rubbing, changing, kissing and hugging an otherwise hysterical Lily. Whether this is truly the beginning of colic or that glorious cup of coffee mommy had yesterday (from which a mighty dose of much-needed caffeine might have made its way into the breast milk), we are going to try to keep up a sense of humor about all of this. Really, in her mind it was all very dramatic. She turned bright red and everything. A little soap opera star in the making, perhaps?

As a final note, mommy is back in her regular jeans. This may seem trivial, but in my mind it is totally and completely post-worthy after ten months of elastic waist bands. I actually took a bow this morning when I showed daddy the achievement. Thank you, thank you.

Steppin' Out With My Baby!

Lily has had a few adventures lately! We've had our first shopping trip and our first lunch date! For shopping delights, Lily, her Kiki and Mommy went to the One Week Boutique - a fabulously huge baby consignment sale held here in Tally twice a year. We found some extra travel gear (mainly for Daddy's car) and a few summer outfits - all in all a great success! Lily also got to meet her great-grandfather this weekend! The family got together and went to lunch and had a marvelous time!

Matchy Matchy!

It took a while for me to be OK with taking her out of the house (who knew I'd become such a worry wart about germs?!?) But as we find more opportunities for outings, I'm slowly becoming more comfortable. What can I say? I love showing her off! And it definitely helps that the weather here has been so wonderful! Tally really is gorgeous in the spring!

Ta Da!

We proudly and lovingly present Lillian Elizabeth! Born February 25 at 7:46 p.m!

7 pounds, 10 ounces and 19.5 inches of sunshine!

Thanks to everyone for being so patient! Little Lily will be two weeks old tomorrow - though it seems like we've been at this forever! Lily began her attempt to enter the world on February 23. Contractions were coming on strong and regular, but for whatever reason things were not moving along as nicely as we (I) would have hoped! The hospital told us to wait and sent us home. The next night around 9pm Jason and I decided we would try again - after a day of constant contractions there was no way we hadn't progressed! Well - apparently we hadn't. We were sent home again. Seven hours later, in the wee small hours of the morning, Lily made sure there would be no question as to the legitimacy of mommy's labor - my water broke! With a bit of a triumphant smile, Jason and I made our way back to the hospital and were quickly admitted - then the fun began! After sixteen hours of labor and one miserable failure at an epidural (which stopped working about 12 hours in) Lily made her way into our lives and our arms.

Today Lily is still mixing up her days and nights - just as she did when she was on the inside - my little party girl. Her bright eyes aren't usually open for very long between naps, but when they are it is truly amazing. She seems to study everything around her not just look at it. You can almost see the wheels turning in her little head trying to take everything in. And even though both mommy and daddy are slowly entering zombie mode, we can't bring ourselves to take our eyes off her even when she sleeps (a.k.a when we're supposed to sleep). We're working on it! For now though, we're just so happy that she is finally here with us and we're so excited to watch our little Lily bloom!
